These beautiful, smart, loyal and gentle souls our society has deemed “inherently dangerous” are relentlessly being victimized and killed by humans every single day. When our society wakes up, stops fearing, blaming and banning the victim and focuses on the abuser that is when our communities will become safer for humans and pets. Dog fighting didn’t go away when a mediocre football player got caught. It is alive and well and it is everywhere. Rich people, poor people, country folks, city folks of all ages and ethnicities are fighting dogs and where there is dog fighting, there is always other crime. If you think this epidemic doesn’t effect you or couldn’t possibly be happening in your area, think again. People who abuse animals will likely and most often times DO go on to commit crimes against humans. This is everyone’s problem and up to us to continue to do all we can to end this.
