The Stand Up For Pits Foundation is an IRS recognized 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to ending the abuse and discrimination of “Pitbull type dogs” and saving lives. We believe “Pitbull type dogs” are born inherently good and we will educate and advocate on their behalf until they are treated and looked at as individual’s and no longer targeted by BSL/BDL, (discrimination enshrined in law) abused (dog fighting) and killed simply because of who they are. We believe abuse and discrimination is wrong. Whether the abused or discriminated against has two legs or four, it is wrong. We are outspoken, at times irreverent and believe in holding members inside and outside of the animal community responsible for reckless behavior with regards to “Pitbull type dogs.” We support new ideas, thinking and encourage and empower others to DO and will support those doers. We believe in order to change the untruths which have sadly become part of our social conscience based on misinformation, fear and ignorance it is the people outside of the animal community we must reach. Law makers, media outlets, public figures with platforms and ANY and ALL intelligent humans who can properly educate others with facts. By doing this we will create safe and more humane communities for humans and pets. We believe the abuse and discrimination against “Pitbull type dogs” is a direct reflection of a broken society and that these issues are, in fact, EVERYONE’s problem. Factually, people who abuse animals will likely and most often times DO go on to commit crimes against humans. That means you, your children or your loved ones. Creating and enforcing strict laws and providing the funds and jobs needed to enforce those laws will make our communities safer. Factually, where there is dog fighting and animal abuse there is other crime. Illegal weapons, drugs, theft and again violence. We don’t expect everyone to like or own Pitbulls or even like dogs at all but what we do expect as members of society is to live in safe communities. Communities where ordinances cannot be passed that tear our family members from our homes and allow the voiceless to be abused and destroyed. And we believe TOGETHER we can create this change.
