A few days ago the SUFP Foundation became aware of an urgent situation involving two Rottweilers. We waited out front of the house and luckily the owner came out. We approached the owner, gathered information on the dogs then asked if he would be willing to accept our help in order to make the dogs and living conditions better and safer for both humans and pets. He was beyond willing to hear and accept all help being offered and explained he simply didn’t know how or where to get his dogs fixed or have the financial means to do so as he has been out of work for quite some time.
We gave him the information he needed and the next day he brought his dogs to the hospital. The SUFP Foundation covered the cost to spay, neuter, vaccinate and get meds for the dogs. For the first time in 7 years the female will no longer have to go through a heat while fending off the now ball less male!
HUGE thank you to Jennifer Bunn, a SUFP supporter and Downtown Dog Rescue volunteer for ordering him a supply of food, providing much needed info and doing it so efficiently and selflessly. We will be making sure the owner gets, shampoo, flea meds and his desperately needed fence fixed so the dogs cannot get out.
While SUFP isn’t big on posting about every single thing we do we did want to share this story as a thank you to all of you for your continued support. Merchandise purchases, donations and attending events allows us to help people and pets, donate to rescues, give grants, educate, advocate, transport and save lives.
It is vital to creating much needed change, everyone understands it’s not just rescues and Foundations who can make positive change happen. We all have the power to step in, educate others in our communities, donate time, supplies and resources to others in need. Sometimes all it takes is a quick conversation or note on the door to get a dialogue started. Might you be late for that dinner date or a few minutes late to work? Perhaps but always worth it when a positive is achieved.
