“Hello,
I’m reaching out to your wonderful organization because we wanted to share the story of our current foster, Lucy, a pibble mix that was actually noted as a Mastiff-Shar Pei mix in her veterinary paperwork. In truth part of our motivation for emailing is to inquire if Rebecca may be willing to share with her social community…that said, we are fully aware that you must field countless requests like this and they can’t all be accommodated, so we completely understand if this isn’t possible.
With or without any push from SUFP, we still want to share Lucy’s story with you all…if nothing else, hopefully it’s just one small validation that your efforts do inspire others. To that point, my wife and I actually committed to our first foster literally while in the crowd at the One Million Pibble March last year. While at the rally we learned that a beautiful brown hippo was put on the euth-list at the shelter where my wife volunteers, so we decided to foster her right then and there. We’ve also enjoyed the last two Stand Up for Pits shows in NYC, so we truly love your work!
Since that first foster we have watched 3 more find wonderful forever homes. We are now trying to do the same for our most challenging foster yet…our sweet Lucy, who truly, truly deserves a loving forever home.
If you have a few minutes to watch these two videos, please do so. Each were done by the rescue group (Mr. Bones and Co.) that pulled Lucy from NYC’s open-intake shelter system (in this case, Brooklyn’s AC&C). The first video chronicles her neglected past and the unfortunate condition that she was found in, and the second video details her terrific recovery to date…all while highlighting what a loving, sweet, forgiving and resilient dog she is.

As you will see, she comes with her challenges…namely that she is dog reactive and increasingly stressed by city life, so it’s at this time that we are trying to magnify our pleas for the right adopter or forever family to be found…and hence our outreach to you. Again, we know her story is sadly not unique, so we understand that every plea can’t be heard; that said we know how impactful Rebecca’s voice is, so we figured it can’t hurt to reach out.
Thanks very much for your time and for all the great work!
Best regards,
David Himmel and my wife Cait”
