Today we were made aware of this precious Pibble “Petey” who was tied to a car and dragged and is now fighting to stay alive. The photos are tough to look at and the story is hard to hear but this little guy needs our help. The SUFP Foundation is contributing $1000 and if you’re able to help out in any way we’d like to encourage you to do so. Society is broken but it’s important to remember we are the majority and we all must keep doing everything we can to fix it. #standupforpits #endabuse

MORE ABOUT PETEY
“The director of Partners for Pets, located in Troy, IL, received
photos of Petey from a volunteer in Centralia IL on Saturday afternoon. Petey, a two year old pit bull type dog, was at their pound with severe injuries. He was transferred to our care and he is now at Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital where he is receiving pain medication, IV fluids, and cold laser therapy. Dr. Jacob said that he wagged his tail the whole way to the scale yesterday, despite his obvious trauma. More diagnostics need to be run to determine the severity of a
suspected bowel obstruction. Prognosis seems good for a complete recovery. He is finally eating today, which was a huge victory for him. His front toenails were ripped off and has massive tissue trauma to his back from being dragged.

No further information is known about the origins of his injuries. (I
assume their animal control officer will have an ongoing investigation
now that he is safe and receiving treatment). Once we know the extent
of the bowel injury, we’ll know more about how much he needs overall.
(You know how it goes with vet care).

Partners is the only rescue in our metro area who is on the “short
list” for severely injured animals. (Meaning we are the ones who will
actually accept them.) That’s how they knew to call us.
