For the last year, the SUFP Foundation has been working tirelessly on creating and launching a toll free dog fighting tip line for LA County and surrounding areas. TODAY, after an enormous amount of work, we are thrilled to announce starting JULY 1st our tip line will go LIVE as well as taking private and confidential tips via email through standupforpits.us.
We are working directly with law enforcement, LA county DA’s, ACTF and the head of County shelters. We have hired a 24 hour English/Spanish speaking answering service, private investigators and have been in communication/consulted with the HSUS throughout the entire process.
The SUFP Foundation is funding the entire operation and the HSUS will be paying the reward of up to $5000 for tips leading to the arrest or conviction of anyone involved in dog fighting.
SUFP will be placing billboards, signage on up to 100 animal control vehicles and papering communities with posters and post cards. To help fund this enormous undertaking we will be launching 3 new items of merchandise in July, may add another city to Stand Up For Pits in 2016, seeking sponsorships, grants and making frequent donation pleas.
To be VERY CLEAR, arresting and convicting dogfighters is only the beginning. Many, if not all the dogs seized from fighting rings will be sick, infected, stressed and injured. Realistically, many of these dogs will be euthanized due to overcrowded shelters, lack of qualified and willing rescues to take them on and lack of funds. These dogs often require significant rehabilitation and behavior modification that can sometimes take years or require permanent sanctuary living.
We will be doing all we can to give these dogs a chance and will be providing you information about what’s needed to do that.
Our goal is to make our communities safer for humans and pets, to inspire other groups and Foundations to fund and operate independant tip lines in their counties and that one day the phone never rings because dogfighting no longer exists.
