Here is what Stefani Diorio the trainer who spent time with Lola yesterday learned about our beautiful little girl!

Lola is excitable NOT aggressive. Meaning, Lola is really playful but needs to learn how to play appropriately and needs work on her approach. Lola approaches dogs quickly and gets in their face, not in an aggressive way but an intrusive/excited way. She cannot control her enthusiasm when seeing another dog and could be a potential issue should she approach thewrong dog that way. A dog who felt threatened by this or who was intolerable of this approach could be reactive and no one needs or wants that.

It is recommended Lola be with an experienced and responsible foster or adopter who is dedicated to working with her on this and who would put in the time to learn her behaviors.

If an adopter or foster has other dogs, they would need to be tolerant, laid back and able to give a non aggressive correction should Lola need one just like the dog she was tested with did once. No dog parks, as that would over stimulate her and one on one supervised play dates with controlled and slow introductions is what is recommended until she become confident and secure and realizes she doesn’t need to be the loudest lady at the party. She was not tested with small dogs but she showed she is 100% able to hang out peacefully and happily with another dog for a long period of time and loved it.

Lola needs stability and this sweetheart showed eagerness to learn and please. She is very smart and deeply wants acceptance. Being in a home may help build her confidence and social manners around other dogs. As was learned yesterday, once the initial greeting/excitement was over, she was relaxed and hung out great!

Lola is a VERY loving soul and the sooner Lola gets out of a kennel, the better off she will be. Please consider fostering if you’re not able to adopt. Email standupforpits.us or ghettorescue.org to fill out an application and please continue to network her. Thank you! ‪#‎adoptLola‬ ‪#‎standupforpits‬‪#‎foster‬ ‪#‎rescue‬ ‪#‎adopt‬
