A couple of months ago a Pibble was being networked from the Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento CA and while it was clear she was adorable and they were doing what they can to get her seen, the quality of the photo was terrible. It was grainy and very burry.

The reality is a photo and/or video can often times mean the difference between life or death for a shelter dog. So many beautifully photographed dogs in need of homes and in shelters are being taken now and networked and those images are what many people respond to. A blurred photo with a bad angle, bad lighting or that is unclear in any way can easily get overlooked and lessen a dog’s chance at being rescued.

Last week the Stand Up For Pits Foundation bought the Front Street Animal Shelter a brand new digital camera and had it sent to our friend Kat who personally delivered it to Bobby Mann at the shelter yesterday so their staff can start taking clear photos of the animals. Thank you to Kat for taking the time to deliver the camera and sim card for us along with making your own donation of a 40lb bag of dog food to the shelter. And we thank Bobby Mann for accepting the help and we look forward to seeing the new photos!

We encourage you all to reach out to your local shelters and see if they may need a camera or if you’re a photographer consider volunteering when you can to take photos for them. It may seem like a small detail but it absolutely matters.

PS-pictured is Kat and Bobby with the camera and a very precious hippo behind them in need of a home.
