Early September in Chicago, police busted a large dog fighting ring where multiple dogs were found chained outside on the dog fighter’s property. Two of those found on the property were small female puppies. The Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation stepped up to sponsor the costs for both puppies which covers check-ups, vaccines, spay services as well as training.

The Stand Up For Pits Foundation just contributed $500 to help out with these little souls who were lucky enough to be freed from what would have been a horrific and tragic life. Now these precious pups are learning what it means to be treated with kindness, love and respect and are named Brittany and Bridget.

It’s so important for people to fully understand how much dog fighting is happening in ALL communities being done by ALL kinds of people. Where there is dogfighting there is always other crime and no one is safe from humans who participate in any way with dogfighting. Many dogs recovered from fighting rings are not puppies and have endured YEARS of torture and neglect. We encourage 501c3 rescues to become approved to take on dogs like this and want to also encourage people to become qualified approved fosters for these kinds of dog as they require time, attention, medical care, training and environments where they can feel safe and can slowly become acclimated to the world. Every single life matters and these dogs deserve a chance to know what being loved, respected and protected feels like. Our society is so quick to deem them to broken or dangerous and sadly some can’t recover from what humans did to them but MANY can and it’s up to us to provide them that chance.
