Fostering saves lives. If you foster through a responsible and reliable rescue, you will fully know the behaviors of the dog you are fostering. You will be provided food and supplies and the rescue will handle medical issues. Your job as a foster is to keep your foster safe, give it love and feed it. That simple act of opening your home buys the much needed time required to responsibly place that dog in the home he/she deserves. It can take a day, it can take years but being a committed foster, even once a year, saves lives.
A couple of IG accounts you should check out if you want to see examples of great fostering are @roofusandkilo and @noelaniig and some rescues to consider if you’re interested in fostering or adopting are @loveleorescue @nwdogproject @bullypawsrescue @forgottendogsrescue @nyanimalrescue @bobbiespitbullrescue @pawworks @ocpitbulls @povertyspets to name a few. If you’re not interested in fostering the shelters in your area can always use volunteers.
Saving them all is something we all want but realistically it’s much much more than that and a good start would be everyone doing something. Changing laws and enforcing them, ending puppy mills, banning breeding and getting people to spay and neuter their pets are just the tip of the iceberg of change that needs to happen if we are to ever get off the giant hamster wheel that is rescue BUT, if every person who never did something before does ONE thing, there can and will be change.

Please consider being a part of that change in whatever way you can. If rescues and foundations could fix everything, our shelters would be empty and they are not. It’s up to everyone in our society to take responsibility and do their part. Every effort matters.
