20245326_710719442470074_9188641355602841317_nIzzy was set to be euthanized by her owners because they said she had started to become reactive. The SUFP Foundation stepped in, found a rescue who would take her on and provided a $3000 grant for her care. Today, we are thrilled to report that Izzy is doing amazing. She has become the greeter at the rescue facility down in San Diego, has great play dates and is quite the lady about town. Here she is after having a recent play date! Izzy is available for adoption now through @thebarkinglotrescue.

Dogs are individuals not robots or toys that are here on earth to serve and worship humanity. They have needs, personalities, souls and minds. Their behaviors may change as well as their health and throwing them away when they do is not the answer. The only answer is to fix it. They are not disposable. They rely on us for their care like helpless children and if you’re not able to provide that for the long term through the good and the bad then don’t get a dog. Go volunteer at the shelter or foster a dog. Don’t just adopt a dog with your heart, adopt a dog with a long term responsible plan.

It is shocking and shameful how many emails we receive weekly from people wanting to dump their dogs. The SUFP Foundation is not here to provide a dumping ground for irresponsible people and neither are all the rescues working to save the millions of animals desperate for help. If your dog becomes an inconvenience to you, it’s you who needs to change your lifestyle and your behavior and the animal should not suffer.

Izzy is one of the lucky ones but countless others get thrown away and traded in when they become any work at all and that is not okay.

Parents, teach your children compassion, responsibility and respect for life. Education starts at home.
