This beautiful inherently good dog and all the pit bull type dogs in PG County Maryland are not allowed to be adopted out to members of the public due to BSL (breed specific legislation.) Simply put fear based ignorance along with the actions of a few irresponsible dog owners has sadly put this giant and unfair obstacle in the way of loving dogs getting to live the lives they rightfully deserve. The @pg_pitties must all be pulled by rescues then adopted out. Please reach out to the rescues who have pull rights at this shelter and offer to foster. The more fosters these rescues get the more dogs can get out of this shelter. Contact @pg_pitties for rescues who are working to save these dogs. If you are a rescue who can obtain pull rights please consider it. Until discrimination enshrined in law is abolished once and for all, innocent dogs will continue to pay the price.

This guy, Kris, is such a heartbreaker….OMG.  He gives the best snuggles like “please take me with you”….💔 He walks well on leash and, if he can stop snuggling with you, loves to play fetch with toys. He’s a special boy who I’d adopt in a heartbeat!! Rescue Kris!!
I am a shelter volunteer at the Prince George’s County Animal Shelter in Upper Marlboro, MD.  I post these pics/videos to give the dogs more exposure.  If rescues have questions about their medical history and formal evaluation, they can get that from the rescue coordinators.
.
Prince George’s county, MD, has Breed Specific Legislation (BSL), also known as the pit bull ban, so pitties needs a rescue to save them. If you’re an approved rescue, you know what to do!  If you are not, please contact the shelter to become a rescue partner.
.
The dogs labeled as pit-types cannot even be adopted to out of county or out of state applicants.
.
The pit bulls I post have been temperament tested and passed (hence the reason I am allowed to walk/love/spoil them with treats while they’re there.)
