This is what breaking blood vessels while trying not to throw up and pass out looks like. The pain and trauma is so intense it’s hard to breathe. It feels like your heart will stop and you wish it would.
I’m posting a last moment with Sally because I’ve seen comments on social media diminishing the relationships people have with their dogs and it enrages me. It takes a disturbed individual to belittle what a pet means to someone. I’m sharing this moment of hell and truth in hopes it will help open some tiny warped minds.
And I’m not sure if it’s because they’re taught they have to have to be married and have kids to matter but its women doing it the most. Can you imagine being a woman and thinking it’s perfectly fine to publicly tell another woman who chose animals as family they are less than and will never understand the love a mother has for a child? The last thing this planet needs are Karens like them procreating more self important  Karens. Whether they like it or not, dogs are sentient beings who are equally important and better than most ALL of humanity.
The next time someone loses their family member who happens to be an animal, think about what you do and say. Understand pet parents don’t get the luxery of their kids outliving them and they will not “get over it” in days or weeks. They will NEVER get over it. They will learn to cope and manage the pain over time but it will always be a traumatic loss. They were forced to make an unthinkable unnatural decision and hold who they love most and have spent years caring for and protecting in their arms as they die.
So even if it’s been a year or two or three or ten. Check in with people who have lost pets. Ask them how they’re doing. Share memories, photos and stories you remember about their pet with them. It won’t change or fix anything but – for that moment – it may bring peace.
Adopting a dog will change you and your life for the better and it will fucking break your heart. It’s worth it.
Sending love to everyone who is, has and will go through this level of pain.🖤 – Rebecca Corry
