Perhaps one day the entertainment industry riddled, and the lemmings terrified of losing their jobs will care about pit bull type dogs and their plight. It’s not likely but they should. What is happening to these dogs is a direct reflection of a broken society and it affects them and their communities whether they want to believe it or not. Factually, those who commit crimes against animals will and most often do commit crimes against people. And the Hollywood gate keepers are not excluded – even in castles with fancy friends, money, and power. Animal abuse is everyone’s problem.

Rebecca Corry’s award-winning documentary ’Saving Jones’ is about how dog-abuse is directly connected to human abuse. The film got into a few festivals, but Corry kept hearing the same thing: “No one’s gonna buy this documentary. No one’s buying anything. The marketplace is broken.”
Corry came to see this frequent message as an opportunity and a challenge. “It was actually a blessing,” she reflects. “I am really glad I didn’t aim for traditional distribution deals because I have total control and freedom to do what I want. I can update the film. I can change things if I want. I can do what I want. It’s mine.”
Rebecca Corry shares the whys and how’s of her distribution approach and what she was able to accomplish with no publicist, no marketing budget, no representation, and no distribution deal.  Read the complete case study on the Kinema for Filmmakers Substack!
