After 15 years of touring this country, helping andĀ supporting rescues, getting dogs placed in homes, raising hundreds of thousands worth of shelter supplies and bringing the community together year after year, the Stand Up For Pits FoundationĀ is making some changes. It is sickening and devasting to see where things are for dogs in this country today. The horrific over capacity shelter crisis, rampant cruelty and inaction and apathy of our leaders, shelter systems and society is intolerable. There will be many more details to come in 2026 and an announcement soon about immediate action we are taking that has been in the works for a long time. We will still operate all our life saving and desperately needed programs to the fullest but valuable time and resources are needed for solution and prevention driven efforts and education. Because there is no way we are rescuing our way out of this nightmare and anyone who thinks that’s possible needs educating.
Our wish was after 15 years there would be no need for the Stand Up For Pits Foundation. There would be no need for national spay & neuter programs or the need to educate the world about the inherent goodness of pit bull type dogs but sadly there is – now more than ever. The media/entertainment industry, landlords, insurance companies, hotels, daycares, dog parks, influencers, comedians, cities and counties in some states (and the list goes on and on) still discriminate, wrongly vilify and perpetuate fear based ignorance against voiceless inherently good dogs. As things worsen with no end in sight, pivoting is needed. It’s going to be hard and challenging but we need to reach more people in and outside of animal welfare, educate and hold human garbage accountable for the mass murder of these dogs every year. It’s the only way.
If you’ve never attended a Stand Up For Pits event, now is the time to do it.
