Precious Ronda has some new friends!!!! This magical unicorn loves dogs so much and continues to overcome the unthinkable abuse she endured. For those of you who don’t know – the Stand Up For Pits Foundation saved Ronda Dec 18th from the Lancaster Animal Care Center. Her time was up but the morning before she was to be killed we saved her and immediately took her to our hospital. Upon examination and test results, we learned she was in liver failure due to blunt force trauma. Someone had either kicked her or beat her with an object so badly it caused her young body to go into liver failure. She was not hit by a car because she had no other injuries indicative of that. In fact the oniy other noticable injury was a perfectly round severe burn on her head we think could have been cause by a cigar. Ronda – like so many – was the victim of extreme animal cruelty. Thankfully she recovered and with patience, a routine, love and consistancy she has been able to overcome the unthinkable abuse she endured at the hands of humans. Ronda is still scared of men at first and needs time to adjust and trust in new environments but even through it all she remains loving and kind. She sometimes boofs, grumbles and barks while backing away when she feels sacred but even in a state if uncertainly and anxiety she has never once shown reactivity towards anyone of any age. Ronda is an ambassador and yet another example of inherent goodness. We are honored to have saved this beautiful life and forever grateful to her dedicated foster mom for teaching Ronda how to trust and love. Thanks to all of our awesome volunteers and fosters who too have helped Ronda on her journey over the past 10 months. She is deserving of it all. ❣️
Pulling a dog from a shelter is only the first step. It it vital to remember that it takes a lot of work, funding, effort, care and time to truly save a life. Please adopt responsibly and be prepared to give the dog all the time he/she needs to recover and learn to manage the trauma they have endured. We cannot save them all but we most certainly can responsibly save one at a time.
