Breaking blood vessels while trying not to throw up and pass out – that’s what happens. The pain and trauma is so intense it’s hard to breathe. It feels like your heart will stop and you wish it would.
It’s been one year since Sally left so today I’m reminding people diminishing the relationships people have with their dogs it not okay. Especially when the pet dies. It takes a disturbed individual to belittle what a pet means to someone. So just maybe – not likely cause humans are idiots – sharing these photos and post will help open some tiny warped minds.
I’m not sure if it’s because these people are taught they have to be married and have kids to matter but oddly and sadly its women doing most of the diminishing. Can you imagine being a woman and thinking it’s perfectly fine to publicly tell another woman who choses animals as family they are less than and that they will never understand the love a mother has for a child? This planet needs more love and respect towards animals and those who care for and fight for them and less dumb Karens pro creating more dumb Karens. Whether these bitches like it or not, dogs are sentient beings, equally important and better than most ALL of humanity.
The next time someone loses their family member who happens to be an animal, think about what you do and say. Understand pet parents don’t get the luxery of their kids outliving them and they will not “get over it” in days or weeks. They will NEVER get over it. They will learn to cope and manage the pain over time but they never “get over it.” They were forced to make an unthinkable unnatural decision and hold who they love most and have spent years caring for and protecting in their arms as they die.
So even if it’s been a year or two or three or ten. Check in with people who have lost pets. Ask them how they’re doing. Share memories, photos and stories you remember about their loved one with them. It won’t change or fix anything but – for that moment – it may bring peace.
Adopting a dog will change you and your life for the better and it will fucking break your heart. And it’s worth it.
Sending love to everyone who is, has and will go through this level of pain.
