What will it take for the horrific animal crisis on Los Angeles city streets (Skid Row) and in “No Kill” Los Angeles shelters to garner outrage, awareness and demand for immediate action?
Dogs are being stabbed, burned, force bred, sold, beaten, raped by humans, starved, shot up with drugs and suffering in plain sight year after year in one of the richest cities in the world and no one cares. Dogs are laying in their own waste for months, sick, losing weight then killed in “No Kill” shelters by the thousands. Where is the outrage?
The dogmeat trade takes the lives of millions of dogs in unthinkable and horrifiying ways. This post is not about comparing one act of cruelty to another. ALL suffering, killing and cruelty deserves attention and needs to end.
We want to know why the suffering and killing of dogs in Los Angeles in plain sight continues to be ignored year after year. Some of the worlds loudest voices for animals live and work in Los Angeles yet the silence is deafening.
Are thousands of dogs being killed and suffering in Los Angeles not enough? Does it need to be millions? Do they need to be eaten? Is that where people draw the line? Or is it just easier to take people in other countries to task? Why is one form cruelty intolerable and others not even acknowledged? Are they afraid of demanding change from someone they voted for?
Now is the time for people and orgs who fight for the rights of animals in other countries to fight for the dogs suffering and being slaughtered in Los Angeles, California.
All human and animal rights efforts are vital and worth fighting for. But in this case specifically – the job of the SUFP Foundation is to educate, advocate and save dogs. That is our cause and mission and the dogs in Los Angeles have nothing. Dogs being abused on Skid Row have no chance, no voice and no resources. The suffering and killing is being allowed to happen and being lied about by leaders. It’s time people open their mouths and start being outraged. What is happening in Los Angeles is intolerable, horrific, cruel and FIXABLE. WE NEED YOUR VOICES NOW!
