The City has finally provided a response to our claim form served on SEPTEMBER 30th, related to eleven dogs we, the Stand Up For Pits Foundation have saved from Skid Row who required extensive veterinary and basic care (because LA failed to do anything to help them), costing SUFP over $50,000.00. The City denied the claim entirely and even ignored one of the reimbursement requests. For some of the reimbursements, the City said the requests were denied because they were not presented within the 1 year timeframe. The City ignored the September 2025 request. For the request from May 2025, the City provided no reason whatsoever for the denial and told us to “file a lawsuit.”
It’s cute how they strictly enforce their 1 year timeframe “policy” regarding reimbursements but are real real real real real real loosey goosey about enforcing laws to protect animals.
The good news is we had already filed a lawsuit when they sent this response and look forward to seeing them in court!!
