When a dog does not have adequate food, water, shelter and is suffering and injured the dog MUST BE REMOVED. The person at the end of the leash does not get to make a decision or have the right to refuse care for the animal. We offered care for the dog and money to the person so they could get shelter and the person declined. The animal cruelty happening on Skid Row has nothing to due with “cultural sensitivity.” It has nothing to do with “criminalizing homelessness”, politics, tax brackets, ethnicity or any other bullshit excuse city leaders use. It is about THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. There are laws in place to protect them and they are intentionally not being enforced on 50 city blocks they call Skid Row – formally known as Skid Road.
This dog is just one of MANY animals we witnessed first hand just a few days ago on Skid Row who is being ignored and allowed to suffer by Mayor Bass, LAAS, LAPD, Annette Ramirez, LA city and ALL city council members. Imagine all these people go to work every day and CHOOSE to do nothing to help abused and suffering animals on Skid Row and all over the city. They have the authority, power and resources to end this but CHOOSE to do nothing day in and day out year after year. Imagine that.
This is a deplorable and disgusting systemic failure. Their JOB is to protect the animals. These animals did not sign up for this nightmare they are being forced to live. Those who condone this cruetly are monsters.
