TODAY is a great day to remind everyone this is the norm on Los Angeles city streets every single day. Not just Skid Row — EVERYWHERE.
Los Angeles County has an estimated 72,300 people experiencing homelessness, with about 43,700 in the city of Los Angeles. It is also estimated approximately 10% of those people have an animal in their posession. We also know many unhoused people have many animals in their posession and breed them repeatedly. Simple math – there are thousands of animals on the streets and many of them are being horrifically abused. The ones who are loved need immediate and real care. Not bullshit “support” as they call it – like handing out wire crates and microchipping the animals to their abusers. This is how LA Animal Services handles one of the nations largest cruelty cases. They enable the abusers instead of removing the fucking animals.
Karen Bass, Nithya and all the others have ignored the Stand Up For Pits Foundation pleas for help, offers of solutions and resources for years. We have funded tens of thousands of dollars worth of care for Los Angeles abuse survivors and had they been protected like the laws state – their suffering and our use of funding to save them could have been prevented.
What is happening in Los Angeles to these animals is evil. That’s the only way to put it. The false narratives, profitting, lies, gaslighting and killing is out of control. As you read this dogs are being walked into rooms to be killed in shelters Best Friends Animal Society and Los Angeles call “No Kill.” As you read this dogs are being inbred for profit on Skid Row out in the open and forced to live in unthinkable horrific conditions.
WAKE THE FUCK UP EVERYONE!! Animal abusers and those who condone cruelty are dangerous. This is everyone’s problem.
