Getting people of power with massive reaches to help be the voice for the animals in Los Angeles and nationwide has been extremely hard. So, we want to thank those who have. Chelsea Handler stepped up and used her platform and provided me an opportunity to speak on her podcast about the crisis, the Stand Up For Pits Foundation lawsuit and tell people how they can help. We are grateful to her and proud of her for doing that. Spencer Pratt – for many months was a massive voice for the animals and the horrors “leaders” have and continue to make them endure. Spencer took time to go to Skid Row with me, and we had long conversations about solutions. He asked questions, listened, and showed up which is more than ANY candidate has ever done in decades. Alicia Silverstone has consistently shared posts and been a voice for the animals. Sasha Pieterse had Rebecca on her podcast and shared our conversation with over 17 million followers. Tomi Lahren has and continues to be an amazing outspoken and dedicated voice for the animals as has Guiliana Rancig, Mark Geragos, LA Mag, Dances With Films, Jess Parker and others. Now seeing Brad Pitt and Jo Koy advocating for shelter animals and encouraging people to adopt is incredible.
We don’t all have to agree, like each other or align politically to end the horrors happening to animals. In fact, saving animals should be the one thing we can all work together on to fix. Animal welfare always has been and always will be a non-partisan issue. If YOU choose to make it about your politics, then YOU are part of the problem.
We hope these prominent figures from all different backgrounds, demographics and politics will inspire others to stand up and speak out against what is happening TOGETHER. Education creates real change.
Karen Bass and Nithya Raman and all the other city “leaders” and orgs (including Julie Castle of BFAS) have all refused or ignored my invitations to speak about the crisis as well as my offers of solutions, resources and funding to help pit bull type dogs on Skid Row. The people mentioned in this post have done more for animals in recent months than all these failed leaders have done in years.
