We want to make you all aware of a new effort we had not heard of the American Pit Bull Foundation until yesterday after learning about a new program they started called “Operation Sidekick.” Pitbull type dogs are banned, discriminated against and killed by the millions every year in America, which makes this program that much more important. This program uses the “type” of dog victimized daily by Americans to help heal the men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect the country that bans, discriminates and kills them. This program is helping save the lives of two leggeds and 4 leggeds and will certainly shed more much needed light on the undeniable and factual inherent goodness of Pitbull type dogs. Congrats to this group for taking matters into their own hands and making this happen.

On August 20th, 2013 the White House issued this statement- “We don’t support breed-specific legislation — research shows that bans on certain types of dogs are largely ineffective and often a waste of public resources…As an alternative to breed-specific policies, the CDC recommends a community-based approach to prevent dog bites. And ultimately, we think that’s a much more promising way to build stronger communities of pets and pet owners.” Here is the full @huffingtonpost article. US military bases have bans on pit bull type dogs, forcing our active duty military to give up their family members before being allowed to live on bases. It’s deplorable and wrong and until our government steps in and actually does something, it’s up to us to keep doing all we can to end the ignorance and programs like Operation Sidekick is a great way to create change.
