Tacoma Stand Up For Pits 2015 would be her last.
I struggle daily with the deeply painful and profound reality that Angel is physically gone. At times her absence is unbearable and standing on stage at Stand Up For Pits events this year has been and continues to be nothing short of excruciating. While it is without question, Angel who carries me, I want and need to thank the amazing people who came to the sold out shows this year all around the country. It was hard and uncomfortable at times but you stood in it and remained dedicated to the cause. The last 9 months I’ve steadily navigated through rage, exhaustion, sadness, impatience, anxiety and all the other complicated shitty emotions and feelings that come with grief and my level of patience for ignorant humans is now officially gone. But I want you all to know, that seeing the undying love for Angel and the reverence and respect you give to what she represents is what has gotten me out of bed, into the shower and has kept me going. Your support and dedication to the work my tiny but mighty foundation does, commitment to our dogs and that you get off your asses and take action motivates me.
I’ve had to learn to see Angel in a different way. I’ve had to retrain my heart, mind and consciousness to recognize her when she reveals herself. It’s not always easy but I do see and feel her and a lot of times it’s in many of you whether you know it or not. And when it happens, it’s magic just like her.
There’s too many examples and names to mention here but I want to thank you all for everything you do and I’m honored to be helping clean up this shameful and horrific mess humans have and continue to create with people like you.
Angel is and always will be the inspiration behind the work and the ever growing @standupforpitsfoundation. Tonight I will stand up for Angel and all like her. Together we will celebrate her beautiful life and all she does for our inherently good dogs.
