“Forgotten Dogs Rescue wants to extend a huge thank you to Rebecca Corry and the SUFP Foundation for inviting us to participate in Stand Up For Pits Tacoma for the fourth year! This event raises desperately needed funds, helps us find forever homes for our precious pibbles, and promotes awareness for our rescue and the plight and discrimination our beloved dogs face. In addition to all of this, it’s also a fantastic night filled with laughter! It’s a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by fellow pit bull lovers and breed advocates, all coming together to achieve a common goal.

Our velvet hippos George, Jazzy, Terra, Jack Frost, Mika, Cassie and Roxanne LOVED getting kisses and cuddles from everyone at the adoption event, and we have received several adoption applications from people who met them there. We are currently working on processing the applications, but we think several of our dogs will be joining their forever homes soon! We will keep everyone updated!

In addition to our wonderful dogs getting well deserved love, Forgotten Dogs raised over $3,500 from silent auction proceeds, shirt and button sales, and donations. Thank you so much to all the individuals and businesses that donated items, and everyone who bid on items and purchased merchandise. We also received a lot of item donations from the shelter donation drive (over $8,000 worth of supplies were donated to two local shelters and us!), including much needed blankets, food, dog shampoo, cleaning supplies, toys, leashes and collars.
Forgotten Dogs Rescue never shy’s away from helping dogs that need expensive medical care or behavioral help and training, but we could not achieve this without help. We are committed to doing whatever it takes to make our dogs healthy, adoptable and find them amazing forever homes. The medical care our dogs require range from spays, neuters and vaccinations to TPLO surgeries, mast cell tumor removals, cancer treatments, severe mange, ringworm, or allergies that require months of treatment and more.

One of our dogs that needed lots of special care was Phoenix, the pregnant pit bull we picked up who had bullet wounds in her stomach, then needed an emergency c-section and after had to be rushed into surgery again and almost died from internal bleeding. Our veterinarian was able to stop the bleeding and Phoenix survived. After months of additional care and bilateral TPLO surgeries, she was finally healthy and was adopted by her foster parents. SUFP shared Phoenix’s story and helped us raise the funds needed for her.

I truly cannot thank SUFP and Rebecca enough for our partnership over the last four years and the impact it has had on our rescue. Not only are the events spectacular and raise much needed funds, but we have found multiple FANTASTIC volunteers through SURP. Some of our most involved volunteers initially started working with us after hearing about Forgotten Dogs through SUFP or attending the event. We have found many of our rescue dogs homes directly through SUFP and have gained many new supporters. The impact of this is immeasurable. Working together, we can achieve so much and save countless lives.

This year’s SUFP was the first without Angel, who has inspired so many and started this incredible movement. When I heard the news of Angel’s passing, my heart, along with the hearts of everyone involved in Forgotten Dogs, broke with Rebecca and the rest of world. I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Angel three times. She was truly the epitome of love, forgiveness, and the symbol of why we all do what we do, no matter how hard it can be. Her legacy will live on through Rebecca and we will continue to honor Angel and be the voice for pit bull type dogs everywhere.

From the bottom of my hearts at Forgotten Dogs Rescue, thank you Rebecca and Stand Up For Pits Foundation.

We will keep you updated on adoptions and the dogs helped with the money raised, and we can’t wait for next year’s event!”
